Helmet shells worth P7 M seized in Jolo

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - – Police seized more than a hundred big carton boxes loaded with helmet shells worth about P7 million from a trader who was readying to smuggle the banned marine products out of Jolo, Sulu last Saturday.

Senior Superintendent Abraham Orbita, Sulu police director, said a tip-off led to the raid on a private warehouse owned by Peralta Pula, 60, where at least 107 carton baxes loaded with helmet shells were found being prepared for shipment to Cebu and Manila.

Orbita said a combined team of the police and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources conducted the raid and arrested Pula for violation of the Fisheries Code.
