Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Three brothers were killed when a truck loaded with livestock fell to its side in Diadi, Nueva Vizacaya, while a collision involving two vans left three men dead in Tumauini, Isabela on Friday.

Amadeo Buhangin, 48, and his siblings Camilo, 41, and Keren, 30, died at the scene, while Wenceslao Tuppil, Danilo Frogoso, Dante Espenueva, Antonio Ramos and Pedro Talosig were taken to the hospital in Solano town for treatment of injuries, said Diadi town police chief Senior Inspector Norlie Gamal.

Reports said truck driver, Wilmer Daguio, lost control of the wheel as he was negotiating a downhill road in the village of Nagsabaran.

The accident also resulted in the death of two cattle.

Gamal said the victims, who were among the passengers of the truck, were pinned under the animals.

Daguio surrendered to the police after the accident.

Meanwhile in Isabela, Danilo Pasicolan, driver of a Nissan van; his passenger Elizabeth Bibat, 34, and Tomas Malazzab, 39, driver of a Mitsubishi van, were killed when the two vehicles figured in a collision in Tumauini town.

The victims were reportedly heading for a fiesta celebration in the town of Cabagan when the accident occurred at about 7 p.m. in Barangay Ugad, according to Chief Inspector Billy Mangali, Tumauini police chief.

Ten passengers were seriously injured in the accident. They were taken to the Isabela Provincial Hospital in Ilagan City for treatment.

Mangali said they have yet to determine who between Pasicolan  and Malazzab was liable for the incident.  – With Charlie Lagasca
