MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents nabbed a former barangay kagawad and a suspected drug dealer during a buy bust operation in Marinduque, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said on Friday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the former barangay kagawad as Cesar Mogol, 42, of Barangay Malusak, Boac, Marinduque; and Benito Prieto, 40, who is listed in the PDEA Regional Office 5 top 10 provincial targetlist.

Reports said that on  Jan. 21, around 11:30 a.m. , joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 4B conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Caigangan, Buenavista, Marinduque.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Mogol and Prieto after they agreed to sell a plastic sachet containing white substance suspected to be shabu to an undercover agent who acted as poseur-buyer.

Also confiscated during the operation were two mobile phones and two pieces of P500 bills used as marked money.

Mogol and Prieto will be charged with violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
