12 Laguindingan flights cancelled

Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – More than a thousand passengers at the Laguindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental were stranded on Thursday afternoon as bad weather resulted in poor visibility, forcing the cancellation of 12 flights.

“The cancellation started at 11:40 a.m. when we already had poor visibility not preferable and safe for landing,” said airport manager Jose Budiongan.

Cancelled were seven flights of Cebu Pacific, three of PAL Express, and two of Swiss Air, Budiongan said.

In this city, the local office of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said no flights were cancelled on Thursday and yesterday despite continuous rainfall in the entire Caraga region.
