NBP doctor shot dead in Muntinlupa
MANILA, Philippines - A doctor assigned to the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) was shot dead Tuesday afternoon along the national road in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City.
Chief Superintendent Jose Erwin Villacorte, chief of the Southern Police District, identified the victim Juan Villacorta of Block 29, Lot 1 B, Marang Street, Camella Spring Ville, Molino Bacoor.
Initial investigation showed that Villacorta was shot at about 3:45 p.m. along the national road near an RCBC branch.
Police said Villacorta, who was also a part-time doctor at the Alabang Medical Center, was shot four times in various parts of his body.
Police said the suspects fled aboard a motorcycle.
Villacorta was rushed to the Alabang Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Deborah Jane delos Reyes.
The motive behind the shooting is still being investigated, police said.
