Trader kills bus driver in P’sinan road rage
ROSALES, Pangasinan , Philippines – A businessman allegedly shot dead a bus driver and wounded his conductor during a traffic altercation along the national road at the boundary of Barangay Carmen this town and San Manuel, Tarlac last Saturday afternoon.
Investigation showed that the Solid North bus driven by Joseph Villacorta and the Ford pick-up driven by Frederick de la Cruz were both headed toward San Manuel town.
A verbal tussle ensued between the two drivers, as vehicles were moving slowly in the area due to a road construction project, leading to the shooting.
Villacorta was hit in the chest and was rushed by responding policemen to the Dr. Chan Memorial Hospital in Barangay Carmen West in Rosales town but was declared dead on arrival.
The bus conductor, Melvin Intial, 23, was hit in the right foot.
De la Cruz, who resides in Caloocan City, fled after the incident but was intercepted along with his wife Ma. Catherine by San Manuel policemen. – With Cesar Ramirez
