Manila Water supports Rizal community

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Water Foundation recently donated P200,000 to support the setting up of a tricycle and auto parts shop and a GCash payment center in Rodriguez, Rizal.

Ferdinand de la Cruz, president of Manila Water Foundation, said the seed capital is intended to benefit not only the direct recipients of the Manggagawa ni San Jose Multi-Purpose Cooperative but the whole community as well.

“The new ventures will support the maintenance of one of the community’s main livelihood which is driving public utility vehicles. Also, having the GCash facility brings different in-demand services like payment of household utility bills will be more accessible to the residents, allowing savings in terms of time and transportation budget,” he said.

De la Cruz added that the grant shows the foundation’s confidence in the cooperative’s significant role in improving the community.

This undertaking is part of Manila Water Foundation’s Kabuhayan Para sa Barangay Project, which aims to provide community-based cooperatives with capacity-building and financial assistance for sustainable livelihood programs.

Manila Water Foundation is the additional corporate social responsibility arm of East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. for areas outside Metro Manila.
