Metro Manila New Year revelry yields 42 truckloads of garbage

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was able to collect 42 truckloads of garbage from various parts of Metro Manila following the New Year's Eve revelry.

MMDA Metro Parkway Clearing Group Chief Francis Martinez said the agency assisted the Metro's various local governments and have collected 42 truckloads of trash which is equivalent to 216 metric tons.

Martinez said the trash were collected in Balintawak and along Commonwealth Avenue both in Quezon City; Baclaran in Paranaque City and Quiapo in Manila.

"As of now are mopping-up teams continue to clean-up garbage along national roads like EDSA and C-5,” he said.

Martinez added that most of the collected trash were crumpled plastic bags, spoiled food and exploded firecracker wrappers.
