The Philippine Star

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines – The vice mayor of Gen. Natividad, Nueva Ecija lost P50,000 to two holdup men who preyed on him after he had just withdrawn the money from an automated teller machine (ATM) here last Dec. 24, police said.

Senior Superintendent Crizaldo Nieves, provincial police director, said Vice Mayor Emmanuel Manuel was on his way home after withdrawing the cash from the ATM booth of the Philippine National Bank in Barangay Sangitan here when his Toyota Tamaraw encountered engine trouble along the Maharlika Highway.

As Manuel was about to step out of his car, the holdup men aboard a black motorcycle suddenly appeared and robbed him at gunpoint. They took his bag containing the P50,000 and then fled. – Manny Galvez, Ric Sapnu
