MANILA, Philippines - Authorities arrested on Christmas Day one of the men of Abu Sayaff Group leader Radullan Sahiron in Sulu, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday.
PNP public information office head Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac said that operatives, led by the Presidential Anti Organized Crime Commission, served an arrest warrant on Haik Asgali at the vicinity of Marites Street, Barangay San Raymundo, Jolo, at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Sindac said Agsali was the one who led an ASG team in kidnapping two European birdwatchers in Tawi-tawi in 2012.
Agsali is one of the most trusted men of Sahiron in Patikul, Sulu, the PNP official added.
