The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines --- The governor of Sulu has sought the cooperation of his constituent-student leaders to foster  solidarity among Tausog communities through dialogues to resolve domestic  issues.

The student leaders from various schools, and Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan II also agreed, during a meeting the other day, to keep communications open to address concerns in the province.

Tan, a first-termer, is keen on involving students in the province in governance and public administration, a press statement emailed by his office said.

Tan also hopes that these activities woould keep students from vice and religious extremism.

The governor, chairman of the provincial peace and order council, has been campaigning for values and religious formation among Muslim and Christian students in Sulu, a component province of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The meeting among Sulu’s provincial officials and student leaders was held at the provincial capitol in downtown Jolo, capital of Sulu.

Tan said he also hopes to train students in public governance and hone their potential in serving the public. - John Unson
