CDO cops’ firearms sealed

Gerry Lee Gorit - The Philippine Star

Cagayan de Oro City – The city police started sealing yesterday the service firearms of its personnel in order to identify guns that would be illegally fired during the days leading to New Year’s Day.

Police officers found to have fired guns during the revelry would face criminal and administrative charges, according to city police director Senior Superintendent Graciano Mijares.

Mijares said the police officers are allowed to fire their guns between now and the New Year’s Day, only if they are on official duty. He said, so far, no such violation has been recorded in the city.

The city police director said additional policemen have been deployed in public places such as bus terminals and markets to secure people expected to mass up in these areas.
