Iloilo’s most wanted killed in shootout

MANILA, Philippines - After eluding authorities for more than four years, the alleged most wanted man of Iloilo was finally neutralized following a shootout in Dumangas town yesterday.

Eliseo Mabayag, 28, was killed after he reportedly opted to shoot it out with the police officers who were about to serve 11 warrants for his arrest in Barangay Rosario, according to Senior Superintendent Cornelio Salinas, head of the provincial police.

Police recovered a Thompson machine pistol, a caliber .45 pistol, and assorted magazines and ammunition from the suspect.

Mabayag was said to be the leader of the Magkal Criminal Group reportedly involved in gun-for-hire, robbery, and murder.

The suspect was tagged as one of the suspects in the attempt to assassinate radio blocktimer Fernando “Kapid” Gabio.

Recently, Salinas said Mabayag’s group allegedly targeted lending company collectors.
