B’gay chief slain, wife wounded in Ilocos attack

TUGUEGARAO CITY , Philippines – A barangay chairman was killed while his wife was wounded when motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire at them in Banna town, Ilocos Norte Monday.
Mariano Tejada of Barangay Marcos died on the spot due to a gunshot to the head, according to Inspector Gerardo Mabini, town police chief.
Tejada’s wife Leticia suffered injuries in the arms.
The couple was on their way home on a motorcycle when the gunmen ambushed them along the highway in the village of Marcos.
