15 rescued as boat sinks

SAN FRANCISCO, Quezon , Philippines   â€“ Fifteen passengers were rescued after a fishing boat sunk in the waters off Barangay Silongin here Sunday night.

Police identified the survivors as Reynante, Jellie, Jelen, Evilyn and Jerwin, all surnamed Marca; Jerry Rabe; Eddie and Precy Quendoza; Boyet Llaneta; Ignacio Patiag; Renz Rex and Nilo Revira;  Diosdado Toniacao, Maura Permejo, and Elenito Perjes, owner and operator of the fishing boat.

Of the 15, only the 65-year-old Permejo was taken to the Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital in  Catanauan town for treatment of injuries, officials said.

Police said they would invite Perjes to shed light on the incident.
