MANILA, Philippines - Four persons were reportedly buried alive in a landslide that struck Casiguran town in Aurora Wednesday night.
Mercy Terobias, 42, and her children Carmi, 11; Vanessa, 8, and Jassel, 5, were at their house in Barangay San Ildefonso when the soil and boulders rolled down from the mountain at about 9 p.m., said Josefina Timoteo, director of the Office of Civil Defense Central Luzon.
Timoteo said days of continuous rains might have triggered the incident. She said prior to the incident, the weather bureau had advised residents in the area about the weather that would bring moderate to heavy rain.
