Robbers stab village chief, husband
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines - – A village leader and her husband were critically wounded after two suspected robbers stabbed them in Bacoor City, Cavite at dawn on Tuesday.
Grace Timba, chairwoman of Barangay Banalo, and her husband Ernesto were rushed to the St. Dominic Hospital in Bacoor for treatment of stab wounds.
The couple was transferred to the Philippine General Hospital in Manila where they were reportedly under close observation, according to Superintendent Romano Cardino, chief of the Cavite police intelligence and investigation unit.
The suspects, identified as Dona Ciata, 24, and her companion Dante Ofemia, were arrested by barangay watchmen and Bacoor City police.
Prior to the incident, the suspects reportedly robbed at knifepoint a certain Genalyn Alibay in Barangay Alima and fled toward Barangay Banalo where Timba and her husband reportedly tried to block them.
Instead of yielding, the suspects reportedly stabbed the couple several times.
