MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-4.2 earthquake struck Negros Occidental province late Monday night.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck at 11:26 p.m., at 19 kilometers northwest of Sipalay town.
The depth of the, which was tectonic in origin, was recorded at only one kilometer.
It was felt at Intensity 5 in Hinobaan, Negros Occidnetal and Intensity 3 in Sipalay town.
Phivolcs said it does not expect aftershocks and damage from the tremor.
Meanwhile, the agency recorded a magnitude-4.5 earthquake in Prieto Diaz in Sorsogon province at 9:31 p.m.
The quake struck at a depth of 112 kilometers and its epicenter was traced four kilometers southwest of Prieto Diaz.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Matnog, Sorsogon and Intensity 2 in Barangay Cabid-an, Sorsogon City and in Legaspi City.
