Electrification projects get P969 M

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released P969.3 million to state-owned National Power Corp. (Napocor) for electrification projects in far-flung areas across the country.

In a statement, the DBM said the money would fund the operational and maintenance requirements of the Small Power Utilities Group, the Napocor’s electrification arm that operates 312 power plants in 236 service areas with a total installed capacity of 327,523 kilowatts.

In particular, the money will fund the procurement of much-needed spare parts to ensure the efficient and optimal operation of these power plants.

DBM Secretary Florencio Abad said the latest fund release supports the Aquino administration’s ongoing efforts to bring electricity to remote communities, areas, and islands covered by Napocor nationwide.  â€“ Zinnia de la Peña, Kathleen Martin
