China pours in more help to Yolanda survivors

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The People's Republic of China continues to pour in aid to the survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) as it turned over on Monday three pay-loader trucks to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

Chinese Ambassador Ma Ke Qing personally handed over the heavy equipment to PRC officials at their headquarters in Manila.

China had sent the Peace Ark, a 14, 000-ton hospital ship, to Tacloban City last November 24 to assist in the medical and relief efforts in the typhoon stricken area.

At present, the ship, which has a capacity of 106 staff, has treated about 1, 500 persons affected by Yolanda.

The PRC said its Chinese counterparts also assisted relief operations.
