Soldier killed in clash with NPAs

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A soldier was killed while three others were wounded in a firefight with New Peoples’ Army (NPA) guerrillas in Balbalan, Kalinga Fiday night.

Reports reaching the 5th Infantry Division at Camp Upi in Gamu town identified the fatality as Pfc. Mike Quisagan of Enrile, Cagayan and the wounded as Cpl. Elvis Unida and Pfcs. Elvis Macario and Albert Abordo, all of the Army’s 17th Infantry Battalion.

 The troops were on patrol in the village of Maling when they encountered the rebels.
