Mining exec, 2 others nabbed in drug sting

CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines – Three suspected drug pushers, including an officer of a mining company, were arrested by the anti-narcotics  agents in a drug sting in Daet town Thursday.

Arnulfo Chan, 55, said to be a finance officer of a small-scale mining firm, and his companions – Manuel Pingol, 29, and Edwin Verzo, 39 – were collared by a joint team from the local police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) near the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Barangay Gahonon town, according Chief Inspector Victor Abarca, head of the municipal police.

Abarca said the suspect yielded a plastic sachet said to be containing shabu, five pieces of marked P100 bills, cellular phones and two motorcycles. 

Abarca said the sting was witnessed by village councilors Meliton Villanueva and Rupert Napor of Barangay Gahonon, journalist Donde Consuelo and Dennis Lladoc of the local office of the Department of Justice.
