Surigao fire leaves P11-M damage

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – At least P11 million worth of property went up in smoke in a fire that razed 50 houses in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur at dawn yesterday.
The city social welfare office said the blaze in Purok Waray-Waray, Barangay Tabon left 68 families homeless.
Yuri Sanggo of the city disaster risk management office said the fire started at about 1:30 a.m. and was declared under control at around 3 a.m.
Sanggo said the affected families were taken to the city gymnasium in Barangay Tabon, Bislig City.
