NDRRMC : Yolanda death toll slightly rises
MANILA, Philippines - The death toll from supertyphoon Yolanda has slightly increased to 5,240, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Tuesday.
In its situational report, the NDRRMC reported that the latest body count came from towns in Capiz and Antique.
The NDRRMC added that the number of injured persons in eastern Visayas-battered typhoon rose to over 25,000.
A total of number of missing is still pegged at 1,613, the NDRRMC said.
Meanwhile, the number of people affected rose to almost 10 million in 11,939 barangays in 574 municipalities and 57 cities of Regions 4-A, 4-B, 5,6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and Caraga.
Of the total affected, a total of 3.3 million have been displaced, with over 240,000 of whom are now temporarily housed in 1,092 evacuation centers, the NDRRMC said.
The NDRMMC said that the total cost of damage from Yolanda in the affected regions is still placed at over P24 billion.
