20 hurt as Surigao bridge collapses

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines - – Twenty persons joining a burial procession were injured when a bridge collapsed on Sunday in the town of Cantilan in Surigao del Sur, police said yesterday.

Police said the group fell into the river when the wooden bridge in Barangay Magosilum collapsed at about 5 p.m. 

The victims were rescued by the members of the Philippine National Police-Maritime  Group and the Coast Guard, according to Chief Inspector Jesus Aranco, Surigao del Sur police director.
