4 hurt in bus attack in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Four unidentified gunmen strafed a passenger bus along the highway in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay province on Monday night, injuring four people.

Police identified three of the four wounded victims as bus driver Ramon Navaltas, conductor Danilo Fuentes and Ailene Gamos.

Senior Superintendent Roy Bahian, provincial police director, said the bus with plate number JVH 433 and body number 964 was traveling from Ipil town to Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur when it was ambushed by gunmen at around 8:45 p.m. in Barangay Baga.

Despite his wounds, the bus driver was able to speed away from the scene and drive the vehicle to a nearby hospital.

Pursuit operations have been launched for the arrest of the assailants. - Roel Pareño
