1 dead as truck, motorcycle collide

DARAGA, Albay, Philippines – A motorcycle driver was killed after his vehicle collided with a pick-up truck of the ABS-CBN television network in Barangay Peñafrancia in Legazpi City shortly after midnight Friday, police said yesterday.

Jonel Lustado, 22, and his backrider, Hery Miraflor, 19, were rushed to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) for treatment.

However, Lustado died while being treated, according to Police Officer 2 Jasper Manrique.

Miraflor suffered a broken leg.

Manrique said the ABS-CBN Nissan pick-up truck driven by Jesus Bandol, 40, with reporter Caren Canon and cameraman Dondee Canela on board, was heading for Pilar town in Sorsogon when the incident happened.
