'Yolanda' leaves old man dead, 1 missing in Quezon province

MANILA, Philippines - A 74-year-old man was killed after a concrete wall collapsed at the height of Super Typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) in Lucena City, Quezon province earlier Friday.

Henry Buzar of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the fatality was a resident of Barangay Iyam.

Buzar, meanwhile, said that a fisherman identified as Emmanuel Gonzales in Agdangan town has been reported missing.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) earlier reported that three persons have been confirmed killed due to the super typhoon's onslaught.

Two of the victims were electrocuted while the third fatality, a two-year-old boy died after being struck by lightning on Thursday.

The NDRRMC also reported in its 6 p.m. bulletin that nearly 800,000 people were staying in evacuation center. Majority of the affected families were preemptively evacuated from areas along the projected path of the super typhoon.
