Tornado kills mom, toddler

 NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – A mother and her one-year-old son were killed when a tornado struck a farming district in Pikit town this province last Thursday, authorities said.

The victims, Bing Jamilon Ocuman and her son Datu Puti, were in one of five adjoining houses in Barangay Pamalian, a secluded area in Pikit when the tornado struck.

Authorities said a coconut tree uprooted by the tornado fell on the victims’ house, killing Ocuman and her son instantly and injuring her daughter Doreen, 8.
