Old grudge eyed in b’gay chief’s slay

John Unson - The Philippine Star

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines   â€“ Relatives of the slain re-elected barangay chairman in Mlang town believe he was killed over an old grudge.

Eduardo Panes of Barangay Liboon was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Bagontapay on Friday when one of two motorcycle-riding men shot him several times.

Panes died on the spot, according to town police chief Inspector Rolando Dillera.

Police have yet to gather leads on the identities of the gunmen and the motive for the attack.

“We just have to give our investigators enough time to get to the bottom of this incident. We should refrain from speculating,” Dillera said.
