MANILA, Philippines - More than 18,000 applicants are expected to take the police entrance test on Sunday, the Philippine National Police Academy official said.
PNPA director Chief Superintendent Noel Constantino said 13,890 men and 4,316 women will take the PNPA Cadet Admission Test 25 testing centers nationwide on Nov. 10.
The testing centers are located in the cities of Vigan, Urdaneta, Tuguegarao, Cauayan, Cabanatuan, San Fernando, Calamba, Dasmarinas, Lucena, Naga, Legazpi, Baguio, Manila, Pasay, Quezon, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, General Santos, Butuan and Cotabato.
The PNPA said it has increased the recruitment and selection standards starting this year which include increasing the minimum age requirements for admission from 17 - 21 years old to 18 - 22 years old and applicants must at least be high school graduates upon application among others.
The PNPA administration also adopted a competency-based predetermined passing score of 70 percent and with no score below 50 percent in each of the four parts of the examinations.
The examinations cover English and Communications, Mathematics and Science, Abstract and Logical Reasoning and Aptitude for the Service, General Information and Current Events.
Successful examinees will undergo further testing which includes neuro-psychiatric test, physical/medical/dental exams, physical fitness test and a panel interview.
The selection process is sequential that is, an applicant will not be allowed to proceed to the next stage if the he/she does not qualify in the previous stage.
The PNPA said that for the first time, high school valedictorians and salutatorians as well as college cum laude graduates who are qualified were granted the privilege to be exempted from taking the test.
A total of 140 honor high school and college graduates have availed of this privilege, the PNPA added.
All examinees are advised to be at respective testing center not later than 7 a.m. of Nov. 10 and bring with them their notice of examination and other requirements as indicated in the notice earlier sent to them.
Applicants who will pass all phases of admission will be appointed as cadets of PNPA on Apr. 15, 2014 and will be part of the Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Class of 2018.
PNPA cadets are full government scholars and also receives a monthly pay and allowances amounting to P29,525 on top of other benefits such as clothing allowance and bonuses.
