MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Friday has lifted public storm signals in several northern provinces as typhoon Vinta continues to move away from the country.
The state-run weather bureau, in its 11 a.m. update, said signal no. 1 is now only hoisted in Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, and Ilocos Sur.
PAGASA said typhoon Vinta, which was spotted 190 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, has maintained its strength with maximum sustain winds of 130 kilometer per hour near the center with gustiness of up to 160 kph.
Vinta is expected to be out of the PAR this afternoon as it moves west northwest of the country at 22 kph, PAGASA added.
