LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Police and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology are now on the trail of nine prisoners who escaped from the Tinagis penal farm in Camarines Sur last Tuesday morning.

Inspector Malou Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, identified the escapees as Roland Negrido, Juan Polidario, Gilford Embile, Muriel San Joaquin, Richard Tele, Erwin Capuz, Eugene Brutas, Cea Kalim, and Rolly Cabaltera.

Cabaltera is facing two counts of incestuous rape, while the other escapees are facing charges of murder, car theft, illegal possession of firearms, robbery, and illegal drugs.

“They were able to cut the metal bars unnoticed, passed through the comfort room and jumped from the high concrete fence of the penal farm,” said Calubaquib.

Tinagis penal farm warden Jose Francisco and his men are now being investigated for dereliction of duty. – Celso Amo, Cecille Suerte Felipe
