Quake death toll hits 222
MANILA, Philippines - Four people who survived the 7.2 magnitude quake that ravaged Bohol province two weeks ago, succumbed to injuries and the ailments they contracted in evacuation centers.
In a report, the Bohol Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council identified the latest fatalities as Eugenia Fuerzas, 81; Felisa Seprado, 75; Susan Bajog, 88; and Evelyn Tagotongan, 23.
With the four deaths, the earthquake’s death toll increased yesterday to 222 with Bohol registering the highest number of fatalities with 208, Cebu with 13, and Siquijor, one. As of yesterday, 727 other people were still undergoing treatment for various injuries.
