Gun ban violators rise to 613 - PNP

MANILA, Philippines - The number of persons arrested for the nationwide Commission on Elections- imposed gun ban is now at 613, the Philippine National Police said on Monday.
As of 12 p.m. of election day for the barangay polls, the PNP said authorities have nabbed 571 civilians, seven cops, five soldiers, six government officials, and 21 security guards.
Three members of government paramilitary group were also apprehended since the gun ban started last Sept. 28, the PNP said.
The PNP said law enforcers also confiscated a total of 509 various types of firearms, which included 18 gun replicas.
Around 198 bladed weapons, 68 grenades, and 4,276 assorted ammunition have also been seized, the PNP said.
The Comelec gun ban will reamin in effect until Nov. 12.
