Gun ban violators now at 593 - PNP

MANILA, Philippines - The number of persons arrested for the nationwide election gun ban is now at 593, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday.

As of 6:05 a.m., the PNP said authoritires nabbed 551 civilians, seven cops, five soldiers, six government officials, and 21 security guards.

Three members of the government paramilitary unit were also apprehended since the gun ban started last September 28, the PNP said.

The PNP said law enforcers also confiscated a total of 492 various types of firearms, which included 18 gun replicas.

Around 194 bladed weapons, 68 grenades, and 4,059 assorted ammunition have also been seized, the PNP said.

The Comelec gun ban will last until November 12.
