S. Mindanao police ready for today’s village elections
DAVAO CITY , Philippines – It’s all systems go for today’s barangay elections in different parts of Southern Mindanao.
The regional police deployed last Friday 877 personnel for poll duties in this city, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley and Davao del Sur.
Chief Superintendent Wency Pascual, Region 11 police director, said police will provide security assistance to the Commission on Elections during the conduct of the polls.
Southern Mindanao reportedly has a total of 178 “areas of concern†– 11 barangays in Davao City, 26 in Davao del Norte, 28 in Davao del Sur, 12 in Davao Oriental, and 101 in Compostela Valley.
In Cagayan Valley, at least 800 policemen have been deployed as augmentation force in various municipalities to ensure peace and security in today’s barangay polls.
Of the number, 285 were sent to Cagayan, 239 to Isabela, 147 to Quirino, 115 to Nueva Vizcaya, and 23 to Santiago City. – With Charlie Lagasca, Raymund Catindig
