Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – An incumbent village chairman seeking re-election was arrested after he allegedly shot and wounded one of the three armed men whom he claimed was stalking him in Naguilian, La Union last Friday.

Rommel dela Cruz was rushed to the Naguilian District Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound he suffered after Ricardo Aromin of Barangay Casilagan allegedly fired at him.

La Union police director Senior Superintendent Ramon Rafael said responding policemen recovered a caliber .45 pistol near Dela Cruz’ body.

Aromin claimed Dela Cruz was one of the three motorcycle-riding men he saw prying around his house. He said he tried to confront them but they fled upon seeing him, prompting him to shoot.
