Flights back to normal after NAIA radar repairs

MANILA, Philippines - Four terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) returned to normal operations following the maintenance works on the airport's radar systems.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said flights went back to normal as early as 6 a.m. Thursday as scheduled.

The agency earlier issued a notice to airmen which limited flights at the NAIA terminals starting 12:01 a.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday.

CAAP Deputy Director General John Andrews clarified that the radar systems were not busted but the repairs were done to prevent them from having defects.

More than 100 domestic flights were canceled due to the 30-hour maintenance works that ended on Thursday. - Louis Bacani
