Oct 31 not a holiday but 2 long weekends ahead
MANILA, Philippines - The government reminded the public on Wednesday that October 31 has not been declared a nationwide holiday.
The government made this clarification after some netizens recently shared an online news article, which stated that Malacañang has declared October 31 a special non-working day.
This is to give more travel time for Filipinos who will be commemorating the dead on November 1 and 2, according to the article.
However, the online article was published in 2011.

The government, through the Official Gazette, also reminded the public of the remaining holidays for 2013, which includes Monday next week.
October 28 has been declared a special non-working day for the conduct of this year's barangay elections.
This means there will be two consecutive long weekends: October 26 to 28 (election day) and November 1 to 3.
November 1, a Friday, is a special non-working day for the traditional All Saints Day while November 2, a Saturday, has been declared as an additional special non-working day.
