Zambales, Bataan monsoon victims get NGCP relief aid

MANILA, Philippines - Over 6,000 families affected by monsoon rains in North Luzon received food packs and other relief goods donated by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) last Oct. 1-2.

Some 2,500 families in Barangay Kalaklan, Olongapo City, 1,500 families in Barangay Manganvaca, Subic, and 2,000 families in Hermosa, Bataan received fresh bread, bottled water, T-shirts, and assorted canned goods as part of NGCP’s relief efforts.

Initiated by its corporate affairs department, NGCP partnered with the local governments of Olongapo City, Subic, and Hermosa to facilitate the turnover of relief goods for the residents affected by the torrential rains last September.

“NGCP focused on these particular areas which host our facilities – Olongapo and Hermosa substations. The Olongapo-Hanjin 230-kV and Olongapo-Philseco 69-kV lines also traverse Barangay Manganvaca. These communities house our assets and it is only appropriate that NGCP helps them recover from the onslaught of the monsoon rains,” said lawyer Cynthia Perez-Alabanza, NGCP spokesperson.

NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through “power superhighways” that include the interconnected system of transmission lines, towers, substations, and related assets.
