Filipino-Chinese businessman released by captors
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - Unidentified kidnappers released a Filipino-Chinese businessman Wednesday in a town in Zamboanga del Sur, near the border of Osamiz Occiendental after the family allegedly paid ransom, according to the police.
The victim Lee Tan was recovered by the combined police forces at Barangay Esperanza, Ramon Magsaysay town about 8:45 a.m Wednesday, according to Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, Spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO).
Tan, 37, married and a resident of Barangay Sto Niño. Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur, was abducted by still unidentified persons last OcT. 5 at Ramon Magsaysay after his service van vehicle was flagged down.
Police sources disclosed that an amount of P500,000 was reportedly paid to the kidnappers.
The victim’s family could not be reached for comment.
Huesca said the victim was placed in custody of the Anti- Kidnapping Group Office for medical examination and debriefing before he was reunited with his family in Pagadian City.
