P’sinan shellfish safe from red tide

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – Here’s good news for the shellfish-consuming public. It’s still safe to eat shellfish gathered from the coastal waters of Bolinao, Anda, Alaminos City and Wawa, Bani, all in Pangasinan,  as these are free from red tide, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

As precautionary measure though, BFAR Region 1 director Nestor Domenden said the concerned local governments are advised to require market inspectors, quarantine officers, and administrators to demand for an “auxiliary invoice” or clearance for shellfish coming from other provinces.
