Summit tackles water, flood woes
MANILA, Philippines - The Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) is hosting a gathering of participants from different sectors to achieve long-term solutions to the persistent problems related to water and flooding in the Laguna de Bay region and the rest of the country.
Presidential Adviser for Environmental Protection and LLDA general manager Secretary Nereus Acosta underscored the pressing need to get everyone involved in crafting viable and long-term solutions to problems involving water supply and flooding.
“Through science-based analysis and approach to solutions, we will be able to come up with ways to promote the sustainable resiliency and adaptive development of the Laguna Lake Basin,†he said.
The two-day summit, which started yesterday at the Philippine International Convention Center, is dubbed the “Laguna Lake Water and Flood Management Imperative.†Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad keynoted the event.
A memorandum of agreement between the LLDA and the Antipolo City government represented by Mayor Casimiro Ynares III was signed yesterday.
