MANILA, Philippines - Some 18 areas in Laguna province are still underwater due to the monsoon rains last month, the state disaster response agency bared on Wednesday.
In its latest bulletin, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said cities of Biñan, Calamba, and San Pedro ; and Bay and Sta. Cruz towns in Laguna remain flooded.
The NDRRMC said knee-high floods were reported in villages of De la Paz, San Isidro, Malabanan in Binan; villages of Palingon, Uwisan, Sucol , Pansol, Linga Purok 5 and 6, Lecheria, in Calamba; and barangays Cuyab, Landayan, Camcam, in San Pedro.
The NDRMMC also reported that areas with floods below knee-level included barangays Sto. Domingo and San Antonio in Bay; and barangays Santisima Cruz, Calios, Poblacion IV and Gatid in San Cruz town.
The death toll due to the heavy monsoon rains last September remained at 32, with eight injured and three missing, the NDRRMC said.
Meanwhile, in Metro Manila, the Department of Health remained on Code Blue alert, providing P1.124 million worth of medicines and medical supplies to the Center for Health Development.
The DOH added the monsoon rain affected 124,147 families or 592,893 people in 36 towns and 13 cities in seven provinces.
