Cet Dematera - The Philippine Star

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – New People’s Army (NPA) rebels harassed members of the Kabuhayan Caravan of the Albay provincial government in a village in Camalig town yesterday, triggering a firefight that sent residents scampering for their safety.

Chief Inspector Frandy Echaluce, Camalig police chief, said the rebels fired at soldiers and policemen escorting the caravan that provided feeding, medical consultations and other services to the villagers.

Echaluce said the guerrillas later withdrew as they were outnumbered.
