MANILA, Philippines - The Millennium Challenge Account-Philippines (MCA-P) has reported progress in all of the contract packages which make up the $214.4-million Secondary National Roads Development Project (SNRDP) funded by the Millennium Challenge Corp. (MCC).
The 222-kilometer SNRDP is composed of four contract packages that begin in the Pan Philippine Highway/Buray (Wright) in Samar and end in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
In a recent media briefing in Borongan, Samar, MCA-P managing director and chief executive officer Marivic Anounuevo said all contract packages are in full swing.
As of end-July, contract package (CP) 1 that covers 16.36-km road from Barangay Buray to Barangay Tinani in Paranas, Samar registered a completion rate of 52.06 percent, ahead of the projected rate of 37.69 percent. With the current pace, it is expected to be completed before the end of the year, way ahead of the April 14, 2014 schedule.
CP3, which runs from San Julian to Balangkayan in Eastern Samar, posted 14.57 percent progress, slightly higher than the 14.14 percent target. Road clearing in CP4, meanwhile, is being fast-tracked. The P2.2-billion contract covers 77.51-km road from Llorente to Guiuan.
The P2.5-billion CP2, awarded only last June, is the largest in terms of value.
