MANILA, Philippines - Ten people have been confirmed killed in separate landslides in two towns in Zambales province due to heavy rains on Monday morning.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said four people died in a landslide in Barangay Aglao, San Marcelino town.
Subic Mayor Jefferson Khonghun earlier said that six people were killed in the landslides in the villages of Wawandue and San Isidro.
Reports added that eight to 10 people remained missing in the landslides in Subic.
Bale lagpas-tao na ang baha sa kalsada," Khonghun said in a radio interview.
He also appealed to the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Social Welfare and Develoment to send additional rescue personnel and relief goods.
He said they have already contacted the DPWH and DSWD regional offices for assistance, but they have yet to get some response from the two agencies.
Meron po kami ngayong tatlong evacuation center dito sa amin," the Subic mayor said.
