Carjack ring head hurt in shootout

LAGUNA, Philippines – The suspected leader of a carjacking ring was wounded and one of his henchmen was arrested in a shootout in Nagcarlan town here on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Chief Inspector Vicente Cabatingan, who led the special police operatives team, said wounded gang leader Tyrone Resurreccion de la Cruz was rushed to Nagcarlan District Hospital after he shot it out with lawmen in a raid in Barangay Sibulan.

Cruz’s cohort, identified as Jezreel Cuevas, was nabbed after the 15-minute firefight.

Cabatingan said Cruz and Cuevas had 11 pending arrest warrants for car theft in Imus, Cavite and Siniloan, Laguna.
