PAL encounters engine trouble in flight

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) - An aircraft of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) was forced to land at Davao International Airport Tuesday night after an explosion from its right engine turbine reportedly occurred in flight.

The plane with about 30 passengers was en route to Cebu City from Davao when it encountered the engine trouble around 8:00 p.m. a few minutes after taking off, a radio report said.

None of passengers or crew members was reported injured.

The passengers were taken to Pinnacle Hotel in Davao City for check-in following the incident.

As of posting time, airline officials are still probing the cause of the explosion.
